ISLAMABAD – The National Disaster Management Authority has issued a weather advisory warning of rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds across multiple regions of Pakistan from March 17 to 25, 2026, a period that also includes the Eidul Fitr holidays.
According to the NDMA, a westerly weather system is expected to mainly affect the northern and western parts of the country. This system will bring light to moderate rainfall along with gusty winds and thunderstorms. As a result, temperatures are likely to decrease in many areas during this time.
In Punjab, including cities such as Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Lahore, Faisalabad, and Gujranwala, widespread rain accompanied by windstorms and thunderstorms is forecast. Some parts of upper Punjab may also experience isolated hailstorms. Meanwhile, southern districts like Multan, Bahawalpur, and Dera Ghazi Khan are expected to see occasional rain and mostly cloudy weather.
Similarly, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience intermittent rainfall and gusty winds in areas including Peshawar, Swat, Abbottabad, Charsadda, and Dera Ismail Khan. Weather conditions in these regions are expected to fluctuate, with breaks between rain spells.
In the northern regions, including Gilgit-Baltistan and Azad Jammu and Kashmir, scattered rain and thunderstorms are predicted, along with the possibility of snowfall in mountainous areas.
Parts of Balochistan, including Quetta, Gwadar, and Khuzdar, are also likely to receive scattered showers and thunderstorms during the forecast period.
On the other hand, Sindh is expected to remain mostly dry. However, isolated rain and thunderstorms may occur in cities such as Karachi, Hyderabad, Sukkur, and Larkana.
Authorities have advised citizens to remain cautious, stay updated with local weather reports, and avoid unnecessary travel during periods of severe weather to ensure safety.
