Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto is scheduled to undertake a two-day official visit to Pakistan aimed at advancing new economic, technological, and defence collaborations, strengthening the strategic standing of both countries in regional and global arenas.
The visit, set for December 8–9, comes at a symbolic moment as Pakistan and Indonesia mark 75 years of diplomatic relations. This milestone adds further significance to Prabowo’s trip, which is expected to deepen long-standing bilateral ties.
Prabowo will be accompanied by a senior delegation comprising top ministers and key government officials. During his time in Pakistan, he will hold comprehensive talks with Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and also meet President Asif Ali Zardari and Chief of Defence Forces Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir.
The discussions are expected to span a broad spectrum, including trade, investment, defence cooperation, healthcare, information technology, climate initiatives, education, and cultural exchange. Multiple agreements and Memoranda of Understanding (MoUs) are anticipated to be finalized, potentially marking a significant expansion in cooperation.
“This visit represents a valuable opportunity to advance mutually beneficial partnerships and further solidify the enduring friendship between Pakistan and Indonesia,” the Foreign Office stated, highlighting the historic importance of President Prabowo’s first official trip to Pakistan.
