Shahbaz Leghari, head of the Earthquake Quick News & Research Center (EQQN), has issued a new alert predicting seismic activity in several countries, including Turkey, Greece, Myanmar, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, in the coming week.

Speaking to APPC on Thursday, Leghari forecasted earthquakes of 5.3, 4.8, and 5.0 magnitude in Myanmar, Turkey, and Greece, respectively. He added that Pakistan and Afghanistan are expected to be hit by a 5.4 magnitude quake, with tremors likely in both northern and southern regions of Pakistan.

Leghari highlighted that EQQN’s in-house system can forecast quakes up to 128 hours in advance, claiming that all prior predictions have been accurate. He cited the April 12, 2025 earthquake in Pakistan, which EQQN had publicly predicted during an April 7 press conference in Islamabad.

He urged the public to follow EQQN’s YouTube channel for timely alerts and updates, stating that their mission is to save lives by offering early warnings within a 5,000-kilometre radius of Pakistan. Leghari also noted that EQQN is the world’s first independent earthquake forecasting research centre.
