As the humanitarian crisis in Gaza worsens, Pakistani religio-political parties Jamaat-e-Islami (JI) and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) have launched a series of nationwide protests and strikes to demand action against Israeli aggression. Massive rallies were held in Karachi on Sunday, drawing hundreds of thousands of supporters.
JI chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman announced a nationwide strike for April 22, aiming to expand it into a global protest with backing from Palestinian leadership and Islamic movements worldwide. Meanwhile, JUI-F leader Maulana Fazlur Rehman declared a “Million March” at Minar-e-Pakistan in Lahore on April 27, vowing continuous demonstrations until justice is served for Gaza.

Leaders from both parties strongly criticised international silence, particularly from Muslim nations, and called on Pakistan’s government and military to spearhead global efforts. Naeemur Rehman urged convening a summit of Muslim leaders to present a united stance, warning that history would not forgive inaction.
Fazlur Rehman reiterated the religious and moral duty of Muslims to support Palestinians, warning against any attempts to establish relations with Israel. He endorsed a fatwa calling for jihad and demanded justice for alleged war crimes committed by Israel’s leadership.
With the conflict in Gaza escalating, both parties aim to maintain pressure through a wave of protest events across Pakistan in the coming weeks.
