Police Form Special Unit to Prevent Aerial Firing on New Year's Eve

The Lahore police have formed a Cyber Squad to combat aerial firing, the display of weapons, and their promotion on social media ahead of New Year’s Eve celebrations. DIG Operations Lahore, Faisal Kamran, shared that a comprehensive action plan has been put in place to prevent such incidents. The Cyber Squad, along with special police teams, will monitor and target the promotion of illegal weapons and aerial firing, especially in areas with high foot traffic during the holiday season.

DIG Kamran emphasized that those involved in aerial firing will face immediate legal consequences, including imprisonment. In 2023, 831 individuals were arrested for aerial firing and weapon displays, with 505 cases filed. He highlighted the dangers posed by stray bullets, which have led to fatal incidents, urging citizens to refrain from turning celebrations into tragedies. Citizens are encouraged to report suspicious activities by calling the emergency number 15.
