Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will travel to the United States tomorrow to attend the 80th session of the UNGA. The visit will include a series of high-level meetings and speeches.
According to the Foreign Office, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar will accompany him along with other senior cabinet members. The Prime Minister will deliver an address at the UNGA and hold bilateral talks with world leaders and top United Nations officials.
In his speech, Shehbaz Sharif will highlight human rights violations in occupied Kashmir and Palestine. He is also expected to draw attention to the worsening humanitarian crisis in Gaza and urge immediate international action. Other important topics will include Pakistan’s stance on terrorism, climate change, Islamophobia, and regional security.
The Prime Minister will also participate in several key events on the sidelines of the UNGA. These include sessions of the UN Security Council, the Global Development Initiative, and global climate discussions.
During the visit, elected leaders of Islamic countries will also hold a joint meeting with US President Donald Trump. Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif will be part of this gathering, where talks will focus on peace and security at both regional and international levels.
The Foreign Office said that Shehbaz Sharif will use his meetings with world leaders to discuss matters of mutual interest and highlight Pakistan’s role in promoting peace. He is also expected to underscore Pakistan’s contributions within the UN Security Council and its commitment to global cooperation.
The Prime Minister’s visit to the UNGA is seen as an opportunity for Pakistan to present its position on major global issues, strengthen diplomatic engagement, and push for international action on humanitarian crises.
