PM Shehbaz Sharif Approves Major Youth Skills Training Initiative

Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has approved a significant project aimed at providing market-oriented training programmes to equip Pakistan’s youth with the skills needed by both local industries and global markets. The initiative seeks to bridge the gap between the skillset of young workers and the demands of the job market.

The Prime Minister will personally oversee the project’s implementation and has committed to chairing monthly review meetings to monitor progress. He emphasized the importance of maintaining continuous communication with local industries and international workforce agencies to ensure the training meets market requirements. A comprehensive database will also be created to track the evolving skills needed by industries.

Shehbaz Sharif reiterated that Pakistan’s youth are the country’s greatest asset and that this programme will empower them with professional skills, increasing their chances of employment both domestically and abroad. The initiative aims to provide international-standard training, enhancing the export of skilled Pakistani labor.

During a review meeting on the National Youth Employment Plan, it was revealed that the government plans to provide training to between 2.4 million and 6 million young people annually over the next four years. The training will focus on skills in high demand in local and global markets.

The Prime Minister also announced that the Digital Youth Hub, an important component of this initiative, is in its final stages and will be launched soon. He commended the efforts of the ministries and institutions involved in driving the programme forward.

The meeting was attended by Federal Ministers Ahad Khan Cheema, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, and other senior officials.
