Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Sunday reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to regional peace, stability, and development, while stressing readiness to move past hostilities with India — provided dialogue is based on equality and fairness.
Addressing overseas Pakistanis in London, he announced the enforcement of a ceasefire following a four-day military clash, asserting that Islamabad had given India a firm response to its aggression. He emphasized Pakistan’s desire for peace not just militarily, but through investment, trade, and economic partnerships, noting: “We built a strong military, now it’s time to build a strong economy.”
Shehbaz underlined that lasting ties with India depend on resolving long-standing disputes, especially Kashmir, through dialogue rather than force. He also expressed unwavering support for Palestine, urging the international community to act against Gaza’s suffering. Praising overseas Pakistanis as “ambassadors of Pakistan,” he highlighted record remittances of $38.5 billion last year, calling them the backbone of the economy. He further urged a focus on self-reliance, youth skill development in IT and AI, and national unity, vowing to transform Pakistan into a strong economic power.
