ISLAMABAD – Chinese Premier Li Qiang emphasized China’s commitment to Pakistan’s development during a signing ceremony for various agreements, attended by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif.
The event included the virtual inauguration of Gwadar International Airport by both prime ministers. Key documents were exchanged between the two countries, covering smart classrooms, the 7th Joint Working Group meeting on Gwadar under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), and human resource development.

A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was also signed to enhance cooperation in the information and communication sectors, as well as in water resources and security.
In his address, Premier Li praised the dedication of the Pakistani and Chinese workforce in completing the airport project, calling it a significant milestone. He described Gwadar as not only a hub for regional development but also a symbol of the strong friendship between China and Pakistan. Li reiterated China’s ongoing support for Pakistan’s development, emphasizing that the prosperity of the Pakistani people is a priority and that the strategic partnership between the two nations is deepening.
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif highlighted the numerous MoUs exchanged in sectors such as industry, agriculture, and trade, stating that these agreements mark a new chapter in bilateral relations. He acknowledged China’s unwavering commitment to Pakistan’s development and praised its vital role in advancing the country’s economic agenda. Shehbaz referred to Gwadar International Airport as a testament to the strong friendship between the two countries, likening it to another flower in the bouquet of CPEC. He also commended the efforts of engineers and workers from both nations in bringing the project to fruition.
