The Prime Minister has established a policy committee to promote local manufacturing and early adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) and New Energy Vehicles (NEVs) to create a sustainable transport system in Pakistan.
This steering committee will also focus on advancing energy efficiency and transitioning to cleaner technologies in the automotive industry.

The committee includes key officials such as the Federal Ministers for Industries, Finance, Power, and Petroleum, along with the State Bank Governor, FBR Chairman, and other relevant members.
The committee’s tasks include developing a comprehensive EV policy, setting up charging stations nationwide, overseeing the shift to EVs in the federal government, recommending tariffs, and aligning with national climate goals.
It will also work on public awareness campaigns about EV benefits, devise a financial framework for incentivizing EV adoption, and coordinate with provincial governments to ensure smooth implementation. The Ministry of Industries will facilitate and support the committee’s work.
