Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has applauded the significant relief package for electricity consumers announced by Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif, under the guidance of Nawaz Sharif.

In a statement released by the Prime Minister’s Office on Friday, PM Shehbaz Sharif commended the relief of Rs14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units of electricity, describing it as a “truly public-friendly initiative” led by Nawaz Sharif and the Punjab chief minister.

“Under Nawaz Sharif’s direction, the government has focused on providing public relief since coming into power,” he stated.

The prime minister also highlighted that the federal government recently reallocated Rs50 billion from the development budget to alleviate electricity costs for consumers using up to 200 units. He emphasized that ongoing efforts are being made to tackle electricity theft and implement reforms in the power sector to ensure a sustainable and long-term solution.

“Guided by Nawaz Sharif’s leadership, we are working to ease the public’s burdens after securing economic stability,” PM Shehbaz added.

He noted that the country is now on the right path, with public relief and inflation reduction as the government’s primary goals.

“We are committed to finding a permanent solution to lower electricity prices and are taking every possible step to achieve this,” he concluded.

His remarks came after an announcement by PML-N President and former prime minister Nawaz Sharif, who, alongside Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz, unveiled a relief of Rs14 per unit for consumers using up to 500 units of electricity in Punjab.

Nawaz Sharif acknowledged the public’s struggles with inflation and high electricity bills, placing the blame on the previous government led by Imran Khan. “Those responsible for bringing back the IMF are not us, but those now sitting in jail,” he remarked.
