PITB Launches CM IT Internship to Empower Youth

The Punjab Information Technology Board (PITB) has launched the Chief Minister’s IT Internship Program (CMITIP) under the vision of CM Maryam Nawaz Sharif to bridge the gap between academia and industry while creating career opportunities for IT graduates across Punjab.

The program was inaugurated by PITB Chairman Faisal Yousaf at the Arfa Software Technology Park, with DG e-Governance Sajid Latif, Director Skills Development Ahmed Islam, and industry representatives in attendance.

Under CMITIP, 2,000 paid internships will be offered over two years, each lasting five months with a stipend of Rs. 50,000. Partner companies will receive Rs. 12,500 per intern to support mentorship and training.

Chairman Faisal Yousaf said the initiative aims to prepare Punjab’s youth for the global digital economy, giving them real-world experience beyond academic learning.

Eligible companies registered with PSEB and operating in Punjab can register online to host interns. Applicants must have completed a 16-year IT-related degree within the past four years. The selection will include an online test and company interviews, while stipends will be transferred directly to interns’ bank accounts.

With 64% of Pakistan’s IT firms based in Punjab and exports exceeding $3.8 billion in FY 2024–25, the CMITIP is expected to strengthen the province’s digital footprint and support the country’s $10–18 billion IT export target by 2028
