Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has resumed bookings for flights to Europe after a four-year suspension. The first flight, PK 719, is scheduled to depart from Islamabad for Paris on January 10, 2025, at 11 AM.

The ban was lifted earlier this month, with Defence and Aviation Minister Khawaja Asif announcing the European Commission and European Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) had restored PIA’s flight permissions.

Khawaja Asif hailed the development as a historic milestone, crediting the Ministry of Aviation’s efforts and adherence to international safety standards set by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

EASA had initially suspended PIA flights to Europe on June 30, 2020, after concerns about fake pilot licenses surfaced. The ban severely impacted PIA’s operations to key European destinations.

Before the ban, PIA operated flights to cities such as Barcelona, Birmingham, and London. It now plans to expand its European network, including routes to Copenhagen, Oslo, and Amsterdam.
