The persistent fog in the northern regions of the country has disrupted the air operations of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), leading to adjustments in the flight schedule on Saturday.
As of 12 noon in Islamabad, visibility dropped to less than 150 meters, posing a hazardous condition for Airbus 320 flights. In response to these challenging weather conditions, several arriving flights to Islamabad were redirected. This includes PK-182 from Sharjah, PK-162 from Abu Dhabi, and PK-168 from Al Qasim, all of which were rerouted to Lahore.

According to a PIA spokesperson, additional cancellations and redirections include PK-451/452 bound for Skardu, PK-211/212 headed to Dubai, PK-233, and PK-308 destined for Karachi. The Dubai to Lahore flight PK-236 faced a similar fate, while the Riyadh to Lahore flight PK-726 will be redirected to Karachi.
In an effort to minimize inconvenience for affected passengers, the PIA management has implemented various measures. These include providing immediate information to passengers, offering alternative connections, and arranging hotel accommodations. Given the limited improvement in weather conditions, passengers are advised to stay connected with the PIA call center for timely updates on their flights.
Highlighting the paramount importance of aviation safety, the PIA management reassured passengers that fog, being a weather phenomenon beyond their control, may cause delays or cancellations. Nevertheless, the airline prioritizes passenger safety over punctuality, emphasizing that such decisions are crucial to safeguard human lives, as stated by the spokesperson in the provided statement.
