On December 30, 2024, acting PIA CEO Khurram Mushtaq announced plans to reactivate several grounded aircraft to boost the operational fleet. Currently, 19 of the 34 aircraft in PIA’s fleet are operational, with plans to increase this to 24 within six months. Efforts to bring all 34 aircraft back into operation are expected to significantly enhance revenue, with Boeing 777 planes earmarked for European routes.
In addition to fleet expansion, PIA has approved a 25% salary hike for employees. Last year, the airline added two new aircraft to its operational fleet as part of its ongoing efforts to improve services and financial performance.
