The spokesperson emphasized that these reduced fares are effective immediately and will remain valid until July 15. This initiative is expected to facilitate a larger number of pilgrims in performing Umrah with greater ease and affordability. However, travelers should also be aware of the recent changes in taxation for international travel, as approved in the budget for 2024-25. Starting July 1, a tax of Rs 12,500 will be levied on economy and economy plus tickets for international journeys. The finance bill further stipulated a substantial increase in excise duty by Rs 30,000 for business and club class tickets to destinations such as Dubai, Saudi Arabia, the Middle East, and African countries.

These changes in the taxation and fare reduction reflect the government’s efforts to balance fiscal policies with the needs of religious travelers, aiming to provide some financial relief while managing economic challenges.
