For the first time in Pakistan Super League (PSL) history, Peshawar Zalmi failed to qualify for the playoffs, prompting owner Javed Afridi to announce significant changes ahead of the next season.
Afridi shared his disappointment with fans on X (formerly Twitter), following Zalmi’s underwhelming performance in PSL 10, where they managed only four wins out of ten matches. “Sorry Zalmi fans. Truly disappointing from a few Zalmi lads,” he wrote. He stressed that PSL is a key platform for players’ careers and vowed to implement strict changes next season.

Under the leadership of Babar Azam, Zalmi’s campaign ended with a 26-run loss to Lahore Qalandars in a rain-affected match in Rawalpindi. The team wrapped up their season with 8 points and a negative net run-rate of -0.293—a stark contrast to their past achievements, including a title win in 2017 and four final appearances.
Afridi assured fans that “major changes are coming,” highlighting plans to rebuild the squad with fresh energy. He also introduced new fan initiatives, such as Fan Parks, dedicated fan zones at stadiums, and expanded marketing efforts to enhance supporter engagement.
Concluding his message, Afridi emphasized unity among cricket fans, saying, “This is more than a team—it’s a movement. Let’s support PSL as a whole in the true spirit of the game.”
