Peshawar Institute Of Cardiology Sets Historic Record For Pakistan

Peshawar’s leading medical facility, the Peshawar Institute of Cardiology (PIC), set a new milestone on August 14. The institute successfully performed 14 Transcatheter Aortic Valve (TAV) replacement surgeries in a single day. This achievement broke the previous world record of 13 such surgeries performed by Serbia.

The complex procedures helped elderly patients, aged between 70 and 80, avoid risky open-heart surgery. Doctors at PIC used the less invasive TAV technique, which offers faster recovery and fewer complications.

Dr. Ali Raza, the Medical Director of PIC, described this day as a remarkable moment for the hospital and the city of Peshawar. He credited the expert cardiology and surgery teams for their hard work and precision.

Dr. Abidullah, head of the cardiology department, also praised the dedication of the entire team. He said the successful surgeries gave many patients a new chance at life.

Professor Dr. Shahkar Ahmed Shah, Dean of PIC, emphasized the significance of this achievement for Peshawar and Pakistan. He said it reflects the city’s growing healthcare capabilities and the institute’s commitment to world-class medical standards.

The success was possible through collaboration between doctors, nurses, anesthetists, and support staff. Advanced technology and a well-equipped cath lab contributed to the smooth conduct of all surgeries.

This record-breaking event at Peshawar Institute of Cardiology highlights the city’s role as a healthcare hub. It shows that Peshawar can provide advanced, lifesaving treatments to patients across Pakistan.
