Pervez Khattak, the former defense minister, resigned from his position as chairman and member of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf Parliamentarian (PTI-P), citing health issues as the reason for his decision. Rumors about his resignation had surfaced earlier in the week, but he had initially denied them. The decision to step down followed the PTI’s poor performance in the general elections held on February 8.

Khattak, who suffered a defeat in the elections from the NA-33 seat in Nowshera, expressed gratitude to those who supported him and congratulated his opponents. The unofficial results revealed that Shahid Ahad Khattak, an independent candidate backed by the PTI, secured a victory with 90,145 votes, while Pervez Khattak received only 25,258 votes, marking a significant loss in his stronghold.

Jahangir Khan Tareen, another prominent PTI figure, also announced his resignation as the chairman of the Istehkam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP) and decided to exit politics after facing setbacks in the recent general elections. Tareen expressed gratitude to his supporters, congratulated his opponents, and conveyed his respect for the will of the Pakistani people. He stated that he would step away from politics and resign from his position as Chairman IPP, intending to continue serving the country in a private capacity.

These resignations highlight the challenges and internal dynamics within the PTI following the election results, as key figures distance themselves from their roles within the party.
