[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Lahore High Court (LHC) granted protective bail to Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) President Chaudhry Parvez Elahi in a case filed against him in Gujarat until May 15.
The LHC previously denied former Punjab Chief Minister Chaudhry Parvez Elahi’s request to stop police from arresting him.
The court did, however, order Parvez Elahi to cooperate with the investigation and to contact the relevant court’s forum. The bail application was heard by LHC Justice Asjad Javed.
According to a tweet from Parvez’s son Moonis, the police searched his home in Gujrat after being given the order. Following the initial search at their Lahore home on Friday night.
Rasikh Elahi, the former chief minister’s other son, went to the LHC and pleaded with the court to keep the police and anti-corruption agency from detaining his father until his protective bail expired.
At today’s hearing, Justice Sardar Muhammad Sarfraz Dogar of the LHC directed the director general of the Punjab Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) and the chief of the Punjab police to provide a detailed report on the late-night raid.

However, the judge denied the petition to prevent police from arresting him.
On Friday night, the police launched an operation to apprehend Elahi. It went on for more than eight hours without success. According to Punjab police, officers were “attacked with stones, batons, and petrol” during the operation, and he was later charged with multiple offences, including terrorism.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
