PCB Plans New Ticketing Strategy for PSL 11

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is reportedly exploring the option of introducing digital ticketing for certain stadium sections during PSL 11, which is scheduled to run from March 26 to May 3. The move is part of efforts to modernize the match-day experience and make stadium entry more efficient for spectators attending the tournament.

Sources indicate that the proposed digital ticketing system may initially be applied to VIP and Premium enclosures at venues in Karachi, Lahore, and Rawalpindi. If the system is approved and implemented, fans seated in these sections would be able to enter the stadium by simply showing their tickets on their mobile devices instead of carrying printed copies.

The initiative is aimed at improving crowd management and reducing long queues outside stadium gates. By allowing digital verification of tickets, the PCB hopes to make the entry process smoother and faster, especially during high-profile matches that attract large crowds.

Alongside this potential change, the PCB has also decided to keep ticket prices accessible for the league stage of PSL 11. According to available details, ticket prices for league matches are expected to range from Rs. 300 to Rs. 3,000, ensuring that fans from different backgrounds can attend the games and support their teams.

The upcoming PSL 11 season will also mark a historic expansion of the tournament, with eight teams competing for the title. Two new franchises, Pindiz and Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen, will join the competition, bringing the total number of teams to eight. The event will feature 44 matches played over a 39-day period.

The tournament is set to begin on March 26 with defending champions Lahore Qalandars facing Hyderabad Houston Kingsmen at their home ground. During the league phase, each team will play 10 matches, and the top four sides will qualify for the playoffs.

The knockout stage will include Qualifier 1, Eliminator, and Qualifier 2 before the grand final takes place on May 3 at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, with a reserve day scheduled for May 4. Matches in PSL 11 will be hosted across six cities, with Faisalabad and Peshawar staging league games for the first time alongside Karachi, Lahore, Multan, and Rawalpindi.
