The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is facing significant backlash after failing to fulfill its promises to the national women’s cricket team. Despite several public announcements regarding salary increments and support for women’s cricket, the PCB has failed to pay the players their salaries for several months, leading to increasing frustration among the team.
Earlier this year, the PCB had pledged a 3% salary increase for the women’s players, but five months have passed without any progress on this front. The players, who have voiced their concerns privately, are reportedly becoming disillusioned with the board’s inaction.
The issue was brought to light by Sana Mir, the former captain of the women’s national team and current member of the Women’s Cricket Association (WCA), who revealed that the promised contracts for women cricketers have yet to materialize. Players have not been paid for the last 5-6 months.

This delay in payments casts a shadow over the PCB’s recent statements regarding its commitment to women’s cricket. In August, the PCB announced ambitious plans to develop women’s cricket, including expanding grassroots programs and increasing financial incentives to attract more talent. However, these promises now appear to be hollow in light of the current situation.
The issue is part of broader criticism surrounding the PCB’s administrative shortcomings. The board has faced scrutiny over its management of domestic cricket, delays in issuing central contracts, and ongoing financial challenges.
The PCB has yet to release an official statement regarding the unpaid salaries or the delay in implementing the salary increase. Both players and fans are now demanding immediate action and clarity from the board to resolve the issue and prevent further damage to the team’s morale and preparations.
