Pakistan’s Petroleum Dealers Announce Indefinite Strike from July 22

[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text dp_text_size=”size-4″]The Pakistan Petroleum Dealers Association (PPDA) has declared an indefinite distribution shutdown starting from 6 AM on Saturday, July 22, 2023. The association is facing significant losses due to the increasing sales of smuggled petrol and diesel from Iran.

PPDA Chairman Abdul Sami Khan issued an official notice stating that the association had written to the Minister of Petroleum, Musadik Malik, to address this and other concerns, but received no response.

The closure of petrol supply across the country will cause inconvenience to the general public. People are advised to refuel their vehicles by Friday night, July 21. The association intends to continue the protest until concrete steps are taken by the petroleum ministry to resolve the issue.

Additionally, the Oil Tankers’ Association held a protest at Bilawal House Chowrangi in Karachi, expressing their dissatisfaction with the authorities’ inaction over the kidnapping of a driver named Khalid. The kidnappers demanded an Rs. 10 million ransom for his release, and despite notifying the authorities, no effective action has been taken to recover him for over a month. The association vows to continue the protest until the provincial government addresses the matter appropriately.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][/vc_row]
