Tensions between nuclear-armed rivals Pakistan and India have surged following Indian strikes on several Pakistani cities, with Pakistan now claiming to have captured multiple Indian soldiers amid rising hostilities.

The capture reportedly follows a series of retaliatory attacks by Pakistan, which included the downing of five Indian aircraft, among them advanced Rafale jets. Pakistan’s Defence Minister confirmed the detentions, calling them a direct result of India’s aggressive military actions.

India responded with missile strikes targeting military sites in Pakistan, which officials say caused at least eight deaths and injured 35 others.

DG ISPR stated that Indian aircraft were intercepted and destroyed during their attempted incursion, and assured that the captured soldiers are being treated in line with international law.

As both nations ramp up military posturing along the border, analysts warn the situation could spiral further unless urgent diplomatic steps are taken. Though neither country has signaled nuclear intent, the global community is calling for immediate restraint to avoid further escalation.
