Pakistani Couple Makes History by Conquering Mount Manaslu

In a historic milestone, Ahmed and Anum Uzair, a couple from Lahore, have left an indelible mark in the history of mountaineering by becoming the first Pakistani pair to reach the summit of Mount Manaslu. This towering peak, standing at a formidable elevation of 8,163 meters above sea level in Nepal, holds the distinction of being the eighth highest peak in the world.

Assisted by a team of three Sherpas, these intrepid husband-and-wife adventurers accomplished this remarkable feat on a glorious Sunday, as officially confirmed by Seven Summit Treks, the organizers of the expedition.

Karrar Haidri, the Secretary of the Alpine Club of Pakistan, celebrated this monumental accomplishment, describing it as a pivotal moment in Pakistan’s mountaineering legacy. He proclaimed, “Pakistan takes extraordinary pride in the extraordinary achievement of Ahmed and Anum.”

This impressive feat comes mere days after Naila Kiani made history as the first Pakistani woman to conquer Mount Manaslu. Notably, the accomplished climber Sirbaz Khan had also successfully ascended Manaslu earlier in the week, alongside Naila Kiani.

Mount Manaslu, often recognized as one of the world’s fourteen highest mountains, bore witness to the commencement of this exceptional journey on September 21, when these two remarkable climbers began their ascent from camp three.

Following their triumphant achievement, the couple received warm congratulations from fellow mountaineer Sheroze Kashif, who himself had recently conquered Manaslu. “Anum and Uzair, you’ve done it! What incredible news to wake up to! It’s truly an exceptional achievement,” he exclaimed on the microblogging platform X, formerly known as Twitter
