The Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority (PCAA) has officially announced that Azerbaijan Airlines’ first-ever flight to Islamabad touched down at IIAP Islamabad during the early hours of this morning.

Upon its arrival, the aircraft received a traditional water cannon salute, as firefighters created an arch by spraying water over the plane while it taxied.

A warm welcome reception took place in the airport lounge, attended by key figures including the Additional Director General of PCAA, Air Vice Marshal Taimur Iqbal, the Deputy Head of Mission from the Azerbaijan Embassy, the Airport Manager, and other significant airport officials.

AZAL is scheduled to operate two weekly flights between Baku and Islamabad on Sundays and Wednesdays. Additionally, Azerbaijan Airlines plans to offer two weekly flights to Lahore and Karachi.

This marks the airline’s inaugural commercial flight to Pakistan, which initially landed at Lahore’s Allama Iqbal International Airport (AIIAP) on September 23.

The PCAA extended its best wishes to Azerbaijan Airlines for its operations in Pakistan and expressed eagerness to further enhance the aviation ties between Azerbaijan and Pakistan.
