Pakistan Warns India Against Violating Nuclear Doctrine Amid Escalating Tensions

Ahsan Iqbal Warns India Against Violating ‘No First Use’ Doctrine Amid Rising Tensions

Federal Minister for Planning and Development Ahsan Iqbal issued a stern warning to India on Saturday, urging it to adhere to its “no first use” nuclear doctrine, amid growing tensions following recent cross-border hostilities.

Speaking at a press conference in Islamabad, Iqbal denounced India’s “cowardly missile attacks” on Pakistani soil on the night of May 7, warning that Pakistan holds both the capacity and determination to respond forcefully if provoked.

“We do not want the commitment to non-use of nuclear weapons to be broken,” he said. “Pakistan’s resolve is unshakable — forged of iron. Our response, though measured, will be decisive.”

Indian Drones Shot Down, Civilians Targeted

Highlighting the escalation of Indian aerial violations, Iqbal revealed that over 70 Indian drones were intercepted and shot down by Pakistani forces, following repeated breaches of airspace. He accused India of targeting civilians, including children, during its missile strikes — a clear violation of international laws and peace norms.

“India’s actions are reckless and destabilising. The more harm they inflict on Pakistan, the greater their own losses will be,” Iqbal cautioned.

Pakistan’s Strategy: Restraint with Resolve

The minister emphasized Pakistan’s strategic restraint, noting that the country had deliberately chosen a cautious response in hopes that India would reconsider its confrontational path.

“Our response has been firm but restrained. We do not wish to escalate, but any attack on Pakistan’s sovereignty will be met with unwavering force,” Iqbal asserted.

Economic Risks for India

Iqbal also pointed out that India’s growing economic interests make it more vulnerable in a prolonged conflict.

“India has much more at stake economically. Its own people will demand accountability if this aggression continues,” he said.

National Unity and Warning Against Extremism

Reaffirming national unity, Iqbal declared that every Pakistani citizen stands behind the armed forces.

“No one can match the spirit of the Pakistani nation. Our defense forces are vigilant, and our people are resolute,” he said.

He also warned that India’s current trajectory, driven by fanatical policies, poses a serious risk to regional peace and its own domestic stability.

“India must recognize that its aggression threatens not just Pakistan but also its own internal peace,” he concluded.
