Officials from the National Telecommunication Corporation (NTC) have confirmed that Pakistan’s first unified emergency helpline is currently in development, aimed at improving nationwide emergency response similar to the U.S. 911 system.
NTC representatives revealed that the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) government has already signed an agreement to introduce the 911-style service in the province. Once launched, callers from any part of KP will be automatically routed to the nearest emergency center.
They added that the service will be expanded to other provinces after its initial rollout in KP.
The centralized helpline is expected to speed up response times and enhance coordination among emergency agencies across the country.
