Pakistan Achieves Major Digital Inclusion Milestone: Nearly 8 Million Women Gain Mobile Internet Access in 2024
ISLAMABAD – Pakistan has made a historic breakthrough in digital inclusion, with nearly eight million women gaining access to mobile internet services in 2024, significantly narrowing the digital gender gap.
State Minister for Information Technology and Telecommunication, Shaza Fatima Khawaja, announced the milestone on Thursday, revealing that the gender gap in internet usage has shrunk from 38% to 25%, marking substantial progress toward bridging digital inequality in the country.

“This achievement is a testament to the Prime Minister’s digital vision and the government’s dedicated efforts to empower women through technology,” said Minister Khawaja.

The Ministry of IT has prioritized digital inclusion for women, especially focusing on expanding internet access in rural and underdeveloped areas. The increased participation of women from remote regions has played a critical role in reducing the digital divide.
“We remain committed to making women equal partners in Pakistan’s digital transformation. Empowering women through connectivity is not just a policy—it’s a national goal,” she added.
