Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif on Friday strongly condemned Israel’s attack on Iran, calling it a “highly irresponsible” and provocative act that risks destabilizing the already volatile Middle East. He expressed deep sympathy with the Iranian people over the loss of lives and urged the international community and the United Nations to take immediate steps to prevent further escalation in the region.

Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar also denounced the Israeli strikes, terming them a blatant violation of Iran’s sovereignty. In a statement on X, Dar said the attack was not only unlawful but also deeply offensive to the conscience of humanity, undermining the foundations of international law.

The Foreign Office reinforced Pakistan’s position, condemning the “unjustified and illegitimate” aggression by Israel. It asserted that the strikes violated Iran’s sovereignty and territorial integrity, clearly breaching the UN Charter and principles of international law. Pakistan also reaffirmed its solidarity with the government and people of Iran, emphasizing Iran’s right to self-defence under Article 51 of the UN Charter.

Meanwhile, reports revealed that several senior Iranian military and nuclear officials were killed in the strikes, including Major General Mohammad Baqeri, Chairman of the Chiefs of Staff, and IRGC Chief Commander Major General Hossein Salami. The Israeli attacks reportedly targeted at least six military bases around Tehran, including the sensitive Parchin facility, marking a major escalation between the two countries.

In response, Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, who remained unharmed, condemned the strikes as a “wicked and bloody” act of aggression and vowed severe retaliation. While Iran prepares its response, the United States has distanced itself from the operation but warned that the situation could further escalate tensions across the Middle East.
