Pakistan Launches New Feeder Service from Karachi to UAE

Federal Minister for Maritime Affairs, Muhammad Junaid Anwar Chaudhry, announced on Friday the launch of a new feeder shipping service connecting Karachi Port with the United Arab Emirates, a move aimed at strengthening Pakistan’s transshipment capabilities.

The service, operated through Karachi Gateway Terminal (Private) Limited (KGTL), will link Karachi with the UAE ports of Fujairah and Khor Fakkan, offering Pakistani importers and exporters reliable access to global container shipping networks amid evolving regional trade dynamics.

“The service will call at KGTL, part of AD Ports Group’s international arm, Noatum Ports. The first vessel arrived at KGTL on the evening of 11 March, officially marking the start of regular operations,” Minister Junaid Chaudhry said.

The new feeder route is expected to enhance supply chain continuity through KGTL and ensure Pakistan maintains dependable access to international markets. Cargo routed via Fujairah and Khor Fakkan will benefit from seamless connectivity to regional and global shipping networks, supported by the UAE’s advanced logistics infrastructure and integrated road and rail corridors.

Rear Admiral Shahid Ahmed (Retd.), Chairman of Karachi Port Trust, said the service “enhances Karachi Port’s connectivity with key regional hubs and supports Pakistan’s growing trade requirements,” adding that it will facilitate smoother cargo movement and provide greater flexibility for the trading community.

Khurram Aziz Khan, CEO of KGTL, highlighted that the feeder service strengthens Pakistan’s maritime connectivity and reinforces KGTL’s role as a key gateway for international trade. Minister Junaid Chaudhry concluded by emphasising that Pakistan’s economy relies heavily on maritime trade, and improved links with regional transshipment hubs provide additional resilience for exporters, importers, and supply chains.
