Champions Trophy 2025

Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Mohsin Naqvi has directed PCB officials to refrain from commenting on India’s participation in the Champions Trophy 2025. This marks a departure from the board’s previous stance of openly criticizing India, especially following India’s refusal to tour Pakistan for the Asia Cup 2023, which led to a hybrid hosting model with Sri Lanka.

Naqvi’s directive reflects a strategic shift towards maintaining diplomatic silence and allowing the International Cricket Council (ICC) to handle the situation. This change in approach comes in response to BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla’s comments suggesting possible retaliation if India chose not to participate in the Champions Trophy.

The PCB has submitted the draft schedule and security plans for the tournament to the ICC and is now focusing on working closely with the governing body to address any concerns and encourage India’s participation. The board is determined to successfully host the Champions Trophy, which will be Pakistan’s first major cricket tournament since the 2008 Asia Cup.
