Pakistan’s Embassy in Azerbaijan has issued a fresh travel advisory for Pakistani nationals planning to cross into Azerbaijan from Iran through the Astara border, urging travelers to prepare for severe weather conditions amid rising regional tensions. The advisory comes as movement across regional transit routes increases due to the evolving security situation in surrounding areas.
In an official statement, the embassy warned that temperatures in the Astara border region can fall close to freezing during nighttime hours. Travelers have been strongly advised to take weather precautions and ensure they are properly equipped before beginning their journey, especially those expected to travel overnight.
The embassy specifically recommended wearing warm, layered clothing to protect against cold conditions. Pakistani citizens were also urged to carry essential winter items, including caps, gloves, and protective outerwear. Authorities emphasized that additional care should be taken for vulnerable travelers, particularly children and elderly passengers, who may be more affected by harsh temperatures.
According to the advisory, embassy teams are currently present on the ground to assist Pakistani nationals crossing into Azerbaijan. Officials stated that staff members are facilitating the transit process and helping travelers continue their onward journeys safely after entering the country.
The warning comes at a time when the broader region remains tense due to escalating conflict and ongoing missile strikes targeting multiple locations, including attacks on United States military bases. The uncertain security environment has increased pressure on evacuation corridors and border crossings, leading to potential congestion and logistical delays.
Pakistani nationals intending to travel via the Astara crossing have been advised to remain patient and prepared for possible delays. The embassy encouraged travelers to strictly follow instructions issued by border authorities and prioritize personal safety, weather preparedness, and communication with officials throughout their journey.
Officials also urged citizens to maintain updated travel plans and remain aware of changing security developments. The embassy reiterated that preparedness and cooperation with authorities are essential to ensuring safe passage during this sensitive period.
