Pakistan Considers 10-15% Salary Increase For 2024-25

The federal government is anticipated to raise public sector employee salaries by 10 to 15 percent in the 2024-25 budget. Various proposals are being considered to provide more relief to employees. However, the Ministry of Finance has recommended a 10% salary increase, taking into account the country’s economic situation.

The final decision will be made in a pre-budget cabinet meeting following Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s return from China. The presentation date for the federal budget has been rescheduled due to the Prime Minister’s five-day visit to China. State Minister for Finance, Ali Pervez Malik, confirmed that the budget will now be presented in the National Assembly on June 12 after the Prime Minister’s return.

Previously, Finance Minister Muhammad Aurangzeb was set to present the budget on June 10. It is reported that the budget will include conditions stipulated by the International Monetary Fund (IMF).

The proposed salary increases and the overall budget aim to provide financial relief and stimulate economic stability. The government’s decision will reflect a balance between addressing employee needs and managing the country’s fiscal constraints
