Rizwan emphasized the importance of belief in their chase, surpassing the previous record of 328 set by Ireland against England in Bangalore in 2011. He commended Shafique’s performance and their partnership of 176 runs for the third wicket. Rizwan revealed their strategy was to set a target for the last 20 overs, and this approach paid off, with a 163-run target in the final 20 overs.
Looking ahead to their match against India, Rizwan stated they would maintain the same plan, gaining confidence from this high-profile clash in Ahmedabad on Saturday.
On the other hand, Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana believed his team fell short by 20 runs. He identified the last 10 overs as a turning point due to their failure to execute their plans properly. Theekshana acknowledged Pakistan’s clever execution, especially in the slow-paced conditions during the final overs. Sri Lanka’s next match is against Australia in Lucknow on October 16.
