Pakistan and Belarus have agreed to deepen bilateral cooperation following a high-level meeting between Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on Friday.
Speaking after the talks, Prime Minister Sharif highlighted Pakistan’s interest in Belarus’s advanced expertise in agricultural and mining equipment. With a majority of Pakistan’s population relying on agriculture, Sharif stressed the value of joint ventures to locally produce machinery and improve farming yields.

The Prime Minister also called for enhanced cooperation in mining, defence, textiles, and public transport, pointing to Pakistan’s untapped mineral resources worth trillions of dollars.
Another key highlight of the meeting was Belarus’s offer to welcome around 150,000 skilled Pakistani workers. Sharif assured that the workers would be trained and certified to meet Belarus’s needs and contribute to its economy.
Both nations signed a series of agreements and MoUs to promote collaboration in trade, defence, environment, and economic affairs, setting the stage for broader strategic ties.
