The National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA) shared comprehensive data with the Senate Standing Committee on IT and Telecommunication about its crackdown on illegal call centers and software houses.
Between January 1, 2024, and June 30, 2025, the agency conducted 63 raids in six cities. A total of 507 individuals—248 Pakistanis and 259 foreigners—were found linked to cyber crimes. Of these, 195 Pakistanis and 255 foreign nationals were arrested, bringing the total number of arrests to 450. Authorities filed 54 FIRs and uncovered Rs. 72.034 million in financial fraud, recovering Rs. 40.051 million.
City-Wise Overview:
- Islamabad:
17 call centers were raided, revealing 10 Pakistanis and 183 foreigners involved—all arrested. 13 FIRs were filed. Rs. 60 million in fraud was identified, and Rs. 34 million was recovered—the highest among all cities. - Karachi:
19 centers were exposed, involving 76 local suspects. 44 were arrested. All accused were Pakistani nationals. 19 FIRs were filed, but no monetary recovery was reported. - Rawalpindi:
8 centers raided. All 44 suspects were locals; 32 were arrested. 7 FIRs were filed, with Rs. 5.851 million recovered from the total fraud amount. - Faisalabad:
7 centers were targeted. 78 locals and 76 foreigners were identified, with 150 arrested. 7 FIRs were filed. Fraud totaled Rs. 6.183 million, but only Rs. 200,000 was recovered. - Multan:
One raid led to the arrest of 8 locals. One FIR was filed, though no monetary loss was reported. - Lahore:
11 illegal centers were found. 32 locals were implicated, with 23 arrests. 7 FIRs were filed. No foreigners were involved, and no financial fraud was recorded.
The data highlights the growing threat of cybercrime and the efforts being made to counter it through coordinated nationwide operations.
