In a significant initiative to support the residents of Azad Jammu Kashmir (AJK), the Pakistan Army, in collaboration with the Public Health Department, organized a free medical camp in the remote Saawan area of Jehlum Valley. The camp, which catered to locals including families of martyrs and veterans, featured a team of specialist doctors including gastroenterologists, gynaecologists, and general practitioners. Hundreds of patients received free consultations and medicines, with the initiative receiving widespread appreciation from the community.
Local residents expressed their gratitude, with one saying, “This is a wonderful initiative, and we hope such camps continue in the future.” In addition to the medical services, a welfare programme for retired soldiers and families of martyrs was also held, featuring a mobile complaint cell to address veterans’ concerns.

On the educational front, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif inaugurated the first Daanish School of Science and Technology in AJK, located in Bhimber. This school aims to provide quality education to talented students from underprivileged regions, a vision first introduced by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif. PM Shehbaz emphasized the importance of expanding this initiative to other areas, including Neelum, Gilgit Baltistan, Balochistan, and merged districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
The government is also planning the establishment of four additional Daanish Schools in AJK to broaden access to modern education. AJK Prime Minister Anwar-ul-Haq and other key leaders praised the school as a “game-changer” for the region, highlighting the government’s continued commitment to enhancing educational and healthcare services.
