Pakistan and Bangladesh have mutually agreed to scrap One Day Internationals (ODIs) from their upcoming bilateral series in May and July, opting instead to focus on Twenty20 Internationals (T20Is) as they prepare for the T20 World Cup in 2026.
The Pakistan Cricket Board’s (PCB) Director of Media and Communications, Sami Ul Hasan, confirmed the move, emphasizing that it aligns with both teams’ strategic plans for the global tournament, set to be held in India and Sri Lanka in February 2026.

Initially, Bangladesh’s tour of Pakistan in May was scheduled to include three ODIs and three T20Is as part of the Future Tours Programme (FTP). However, the series will now consist of five T20I matches. Similarly, Pakistan’s July tour of Bangladesh, which originally featured three ODIs outside the FTP, has also been restructured into a three-match T20I series.
Both teams will also compete in the Asia Cup, scheduled for September in India, which will be played in the T20 format as further preparation for the World Cup.
Currently, Pakistan is leading a five-match T20I series against New Zealand 3-1, with one match remaining, followed by a three-match ODI series between the two sides from 29 March to 5 April. Players will then shift focus to the 10th edition of the Pakistan Super League (PSL), set to run from 11 April to 18 May.
