OGRA Launches ‘Raahguzar’ App to Combat Illegal Petrol Pumps

The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA), in collaboration with the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) and the Oil Companies Advisory Council (OCAC), has launched a mobile app called ‘Raahguzar’. The app, powered by Geographic Information System (GIS) technology, helps users easily locate legal petrol pumps and outlets throughout Pakistan.

User-Friendly and Transparent Platform

‘Raahguzar’ is designed to provide consumers, district governments, and law enforcement agencies with an easy way to identify legal petrol pumps and report illegal outlets or “dabba stations.” The app also empowers consumers to lodge complaints regarding overcharging, poor fuel quality, or any concerns related to illegal practices at petrol stations.

The app not only displays locations of legal petrol pumps but also provides real-time pricing for petrol and diesel fuel, making it a helpful tool for consumers.

Availability and Features

Currently, the app is available for download on the Google Play Store, with plans for wider accessibility in the future.

During the launch event, Chairman OGRA, Mr. Masroor Khan, highlighted the app’s role as the first phase of a larger initiative to track and trace the oil supply system. This initiative aims to promote accountability, prevent economic leakages, combat illegal practices, and strengthen the overall integrity of the oil industry in Pakistan.

Impact on Pakistan’s Oil Sector

The ‘Raahguzar’ app is expected to play a significant role in curbing illegal activities in the oil sector, thus contributing to the sustainability and growth of the industry. By improving transparency and providing a mechanism for consumers to actively participate in monitoring fuel quality and pricing, the app is set to become a game-changer.

The event, held at OGRA’s headquarters in Islamabad, was attended by senior officials from the Ministry of Energy (Petroleum Division), FBR, Customs, the Explosives Department, and representatives from OCAC and the Oil Marketing Association of Pakistan (OMAP).
