No Traffic Fines During Karachi's Iftar Time

Karachi’s Deputy Inspector General (DIG) of Traffic Police, Ahmed Nawaz, instructed his team on Monday not to issue traffic fines to motorists breaking rules between 5 pm and Iftar.

He urged traffic officers to prioritize facilitating the timely return of people to their homes for Iftar, rather than penalizing them. During the hour before Iftar, he advised officers to warn drivers with families instead of issuing fines for rule violations.

Moreover, Nawaz emphasized focusing on enforcing one-way traffic regulations, as violations often lead to accidents and traffic congestion. He emphasized the importance of keeping intersections clear by prohibiting parking of rickshaws, cars, and motorcycles.

Nawaz specified that officers without body cameras should refrain from issuing fines. Additionally, he stressed that traffic officers and policemen should not crowd roads and must ensure strict adherence to the fast lane rule on Shar-e-Faisal. Motorcyclists were instructed to stick to the by-lane.

Furthermore, the DIG instructed traffic officials to allocate time for removing improperly parked vehicles. He warned of consequences for officers displaying misconduct towards citizens.
