New Year’s Holiday Declared for Public and Private Sector

DUBAI – Government and private employees in the UAE will enjoy a New Year’s Day holiday as the country declares Wednesday, January 1, 2025, a public holiday for all offices.

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MOHRE) confirmed that private sector employees would also receive a paid day off. This marks the first public holiday of 2025 and is part of the UAE’s official holiday calendar for the year.

The UAE is set to observe thirteen public holidays in 2025, including a four-day break for Eid Al Fitr, covering the first three days of Shawwal following Ramadan. Residents will have ample opportunity to enjoy quality time with family and friends.

Under the revised rules, holidays falling on weekends will no longer be moved to weekdays. Additionally, individual states retain the authority to announce extra holidays as needed.

This announcement ensures that both public and private sector employees can start 2025 with a well-deserved break, celebrating the New Year.
