The Pakistan Meteorological Department has issued a warning for a new monsoon spell set to begin on July 28, which could bring heavy rain, flash floods, and urban flooding in multiple regions across the country.

From July 28 to 31, rainfall with thunderstorms is forecast in Islamabad, Punjab, and various parts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Balochistan is expected to receive rain between July 29 and 31, while Sindh may see downpours on July 30 and 31.

Some areas may face intense rainfall, leading to flash floods in streams and nullahs, while low-lying urban zones are at risk of water accumulation. A landslide alert has also been issued for northern regions, with travelers and tourists advised to monitor weather updates before planning trips.

Meanwhile, severe flooding has already hit Gilgit-Baltistan. In Danyor tehsil, Gilgit district, a mountain flood redirected the Hunza River’s course, destroying homes, trees, and crops spread across hundreds of acres.

In Chilas’ Thak Babusar region, flash floods have caused significant destruction, sweeping away homes, roads, livestock shelters, and farmland. Many families are now stranded without shelter or aid.

Authorities, including the Met Office, local administrations, and relief organizations, have urged the public to remain alert and take all necessary precautions ahead of the expected monsoon activity.
