Sui Northern Gas Pipelines Limited (SNGPL) has announced an updated gas load-shedding schedule for Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, specifying supply timings for domestic users during the peak winter months of December to February.
According to the revised plan, households will receive gas in three distinct time slots to meet essential cooking requirements. The first window runs from 5:30 AM to 8:30 AM, covering breakfast preparation, followed by a midday supply from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM. The final evening slot, designed for dinner, will be from 5:30 PM to 8:30 PM.
SNGPL officials explained that the changes aim to balance the significant rise in gas demand during winter, when consumption typically spikes across northern regions. Industrial users, however, will remain unaffected, as the adjustments focus solely on domestic consumption management.
Authorities emphasized that the move is not due to a gas shortage but rather the need for efficient distribution. Consumers are urged to use gas judiciously and avoid wasteful practices, especially given the rising cost of energy.
The new schedule is expected to affect millions of households, prompting residents to plan daily activities around the designated supply periods. Officials stressed that responsible usage will help maintain smooth operations throughout the season.
By implementing these targeted supply windows, SNGPL seeks to ensure that domestic users have access to gas for essential needs while preventing system overload during peak demand hours. The company reassures the public that overall gas availability remains sufficient, with the revised timetable serving as a management strategy rather than a reflection of scarcity.
Residents are advised to adjust cooking and heating routines accordingly and remain informed about any further updates, as authorities continue monitoring consumption trends to maintain a balanced supply during the coldest months of the year.
