New Airlines Set to Launch Flights to Smaller Cities

New Air Services Announced for Smaller Cities in Pakistan

In a significant development for air travel in Pakistan, the Director General of the Civil Aviation Authority, Nader Shafi, announced that a private airline will begin operations to several smaller cities starting next year. The new air services are set to launch in the second quarter of 2025, with planned flights to cities including Sukkur, Multan, Faisalabad, Sialkot, and Gwadar.

In an exclusive interview with Samaa TV, Shafi emphasized that this expansion will enhance travel connectivity between primary and secondary airports, making air travel more accessible for residents in these regions. The airline intends to operate a minimum of three small planes, each capable of accommodating 40 to 50 passengers.

This initiative responds to the growing demand for travel, as approximately 30 million passengers currently depend on buses, trains, and other vehicles to journey between northern and southern Pakistan each year. Shafi highlighted that competitive fare pricing on these new routes could be highly profitable for the airline while offering travelers a quicker and more comfortable mode of transportation.

He expressed optimism that the new flights would significantly benefit local economies and improve connectivity for residents in smaller cities, paving the way for enhanced regional development.
