ISLAMABAD – The government has approved a 20 paisas per unit increase in electricity prices across Karachi and the entire country, effective December 2024.
According to a notification issued by the National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA), this price hike is part of the first quarterly adjustment for the current fiscal year. The adjustment will add an additional financial burden of Rs. 1.18 billion on electricity consumers nationwide.

The price increase will apply to all electricity consumers, excluding lifeline and prepaid electricity users, and will not affect additional electricity consumption under the winter package. The adjustment is expected to last for one month.
NEPRA also noted that the collection for the previous fiscal year’s last quarterly adjustment of Rs. 1.74 per unit ended in November 2024.
