The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) has proposed imposing fixed charges on domestic electricity consumers, ranging from Rs200 to Rs1,000 per month. This proposal has been sent to the federal government and, if approved, will take effect from July 1, 2024, adding an additional financial burden on electricity consumers.
The proposed fixed charges are structured as follows:
Units Consumed (per month) | Fixed Charges (per month) |
---|---|
301-400 units | Rs. 200 |
401-500 units | Rs. 400 |
501-600 units | Rs. 600 |
601-700 units | Rs. 800 |
Above 700 units | Rs. 1,000 |
This proposal suggests a fixed charge of Rs200 for those consuming 301-400 units per month, Rs400 for up to 500 units, and so on, with the highest charge being Rs1,000 for consumption above 700 units per month.
