Due to heightened risks of Glacier Lake Outburst Floods (GLOF) in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) and Gilgit-Baltistan (GB), the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) has issued a high alert to concerned departments. The alert is in response to increasing temperatures, windstorms, and rainfall, which increase the likelihood of water levels rising in streams and mountainous nullahs until July 23.
NDMA has warned of potential landslides in these regions due to the deluge in streams and has instructed the Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) to maintain close coordination with relevant departments. It has emphasized the importance of readiness among machinery and rescue teams to respond promptly to any emergencies caused by severe weather conditions.
