The National Database and Registration Authority (Nadra) is responsible for issuing Computerised National Identity Cards (CNIC) to Pakistani citizens aged 18 and above.
Citizens must apply for their CNIC upon turning 18, as it is essential for avoiding complications. The CNIC is required for obtaining a driving license, NTN, bank account, passport, and mobile connection. It is also linked to healthcare by integrating medical records.

Nadra CNIC Fee Update for January 2025
As of January 2025, Nadra’s CNIC fee structure remains unchanged. The standard fee for a new Smart CNIC is Rs. 750, while urgent processing costs Rs. 1,500. The executive category fee is Rs. 2,500.
Applicants must bring their birth certificate or matriculation result card and a family member’s CNIC copy when applying for the first time.
