LARKANA, Sindh — NADRA mobile-based union council registration has been officially rolled out in Larkana Tehsil Municipal Karachi (TMK), marking a significant milestone in Pakistan’s digital governance efforts. Residents can now register vital records like births, deaths and marriages directly through the NADRA Pak-ID mobile app without visiting local offices, improving ease of access and reducing administrative burdens for citizens. This initiative aligns with the authority’s broader strategy to digitize union council services nationwide.
Under this new system, Larkana TMK residents using the Pak-ID mobile app can submit applications for key civil records from their smartphones. This service reduces the need for physical paperwork and long waits at union councils, offering faster processing and real-time tracking of applications directly through the app. Officials say the rollout begins in Larkana’s union councils and will expand to other districts and provinces.
NADRA’s digital push is part of a larger nationwide modernization effort, shifting services from traditional in-person methods and outdated websites to mobile-friendly platforms. Earlier, NADRA announced a complete transition of identity services from its Pak-ID website to the mobile app to combat fraud and improve usability.
To support this transformation, NADRA recently signed an agreement with Radio Pakistan to raise public awareness about mobile registration options and help citizens understand how to use the Pak-ID app for union council updates. Awareness campaigns target areas with limited digital access to ensure wide adoption.
The Pak-ID app itself continues to evolve, with recent releases incorporating bilingual support, faster dashboards, and enhanced online registration features that previously required visits to union councils. As part of Pakistan’s Digital Pakistan vision, these tech upgrades are designed to simplify civil record management for millions of citizens.
In a related development, NADRA recently launched a facial recognition biometric system to further secure identity verification procedures, a step toward more efficient and fraud-resistant services for all mobile and in-office registrations.
This expansion of NADRA mobile union council registration in Larkana TMK underscores a nationwide shift toward accessible, technology-driven public services, empowering citizens with convenient digital tools for essential life registrations.
